Toolchain Engineering Services

Simulink and model-based development toolchains, built and maintained so your engineers can get on with engineering.

Background

I spent thirteen years in automotive engineering — six as a calibration engineer, seven as a controls engineer — before founding Kinzed Ltd. In every one of those roles, the same pattern kept repeating: capable engineers losing days to model housekeeping, brittle scripts, and manual steps that should have been automated years ago.

I started building tools to solve that problem for my own teams. Kinzed exists to do it properly, for yours.

What I have built

SimDolphin is a production Simulink toolbox with over 200 functions, developed and refined over six years of daily use on real programmes. It covers the work engineers actually repeat:

  • Model interrogation — extract structure, signals, and metadata from models at scale
  • Model editing — automated block manipulation, layout, and refactoring
  • Data handling — dictionary, workspace, and parameter operations
  • Interface tooling — GUI components for engineers who need to drive these operations interactively

More than 100 of these are reusable library functions: tested building blocks you can call directly from your own tools rather than reimplementing.

Behind it sits an automated test platform that exercises the full function set across MATLAB releases from R2015b onward. Compatibility across MATLAB and Simulink versions is verified continuously, not assumed — which is what makes the library safe to build on when your programmes run on several releases at once.

How I can help your team

Start from working code. The library is ready to use today. Toolchain work that would begin from an empty file starts instead from tested, version-compatible components — and the compatibility problem, usually the most expensive part of the job, is already solved.

Add specialist capacity. Your engineers know your models, your processes, and your constraints better than any outsider will. What they usually lack is time, and dedicated tooling experience. I supply both, without adding headcount — so internal expertise stays focused on the engineering problems only your team can solve.

Custom development. Where SimDolphin does not already cover a need, I build to it: bespoke tools, integrations, and automation designed to the same standard and maintained alongside the rest of your toolchain.

Get in touch

The quickest way to reach me is directly: [email protected]. You do not need a defined project or a budget to start a conversation — any kind of technical discussion is welcome, whether that is a specific problem you are trying to solve, a question about what the library can do, or simply comparing notes on model-based development.
